Frequently asked questions

Is the KenKen generator free?+

Yes. Generate unlimited KenKen (Calcudoku) puzzles and play, print or download them for free — no account or signup required.

How do you play KenKen?+

Fill the grid so each row and column contains the numbers 1 to n with no repeats, like Sudoku. In addition, each outlined 'cage' shows a target and an operation, and the numbers in that cage must combine with that operation to reach the target.

What do the cage symbols mean?+

× means the cage's numbers multiply to the target, ÷ means they divide, − means they subtract, and + means they add. A cage with a single number and no symbol is a free gift — just write that number in.

Does every puzzle have one solution?+

Yes. Each puzzle is verified by a solver to have exactly one unique solution before it's shown to you.

What sizes are available?+

Three grid sizes — 4×4, 5×5 and 6×6 — with Easy, Medium and Hard settings that control how large and tricky the cages are.

How do I print a KenKen puzzle?+

Click Preview & Download, choose US Letter or A4, and download the PDF. It includes the puzzle plus a separate answer key page.
