How Jigsaw Sudoku Works

Jigsaw Sudoku (also known as Geometry Sudoku or Irregular Sudoku) replaces standard 3×3 square boxes with 9 free-form, polyomino regions.

  1. 1. Rows & Columns: Each row and column must contain digits 1 through 9 with no repetitions.
  2. 2. Irregular Regions: Each colored 9-cell irregular region must also contain digits 1 through 9 exactly once.
  3. 3. Spatial Deduction: Because shapes wrap around each other, lines that cross multiple regions give powerful cross-elimination clues!

Frequently asked questions

What is Jigsaw Sudoku?+

Jigsaw Sudoku — also known as Geometry Sudoku, Irregular Sudoku, or Chaos Sudoku — replaces the standard 3×3 square boxes with 9 free-form, irregular polyomino regions. Every row, column, and irregular 9-cell shape must contain numbers 1–9 with no repeats.

How do you solve Jigsaw Sudoku?+

Follow the standard row and column elimination rules, but trace the non-rectangular borders of each irregular shape. Because regions interlock and weave across rows and columns, counting cells that protrude into neighboring lines reveals powerful placement clues (often called the 'law of leftovers').

Does every Jigsaw Sudoku have a unique solution?+

Yes. Our constructor verifies solution uniqueness at every step of generation, ensuring every puzzle can be solved through pure logic with zero guessing.

Can I print Jigsaw Sudoku puzzles?+

Yes! You can play interactively in your browser with real-time conflict checking, or download high-resolution PDF worksheets formatted for US Letter or ISO A4 paper, complete with full solution keys.

Can I choose different irregular geometric patterns?+

Yes. Use the Layout selector to pick from several geometric polyomino styles, including Geometric Steps, Twisted Ribbons, Tetris Cascade, and Diagonal Waves.
